Making my way to Covent Garden this weekend from a Tried and Tasted OG, Bunsik, I was in dire need of a sweet treat and this giant sign showing a flower-scooped ice cream stopped me in my mission. I was intrigued, to say the least.

So I went in. At first, I was a little lost looking at where to order, but the scooper(?), the worker pointed out some screens where you order and then he makes your scoop. So I ordered a small Vanilla, Caramel and Chocolate & Milk flower. Yes, pictured is the small. I opted out of getting a macaron as I just wanted to focus on the ice cream.

You get to watch the worker create your custom flower, layer by layer, scoop by scoop, it was actually really satisfying to watch.

On the flavours, there is a wide range of milk based and non milk based flavours, including a vegan chocolate scoop which looks just as rich as the milk based chocolate flavour. The sorbets looked as creamy as the milk based ice creams. And for those of you who don’t want ice cream, there was a litany of iced drinks, hot chocolates and teas to choose from, macarons and other delicious desserts, but really the ice cream is the main attraction.

I wasn’t able to have a close look at the macaron flavours but you have two sizes to choose from, standard and big. If i find myself walking down Charring Cross I will go back to try one of each size. But my friend had tried a macaron with her ice cream and she said it set the bar high for her, which is good as Amorino is a French ice cream franchise.

On how the ice cream was, I would rate the flavours I had a 8/10. The caramel layer had these crystallised chunks which I thought at first were caramelised sugar but they were kind of bitter, which brought down the experience a bit, but the actual ice cream was 10/10. It was so creamy it put all the other ice cream I’ve ever eaten to shame. The vanilla was perfect and the milk and chocolate layer tasted like taking a sip straight from the bottle. I had expected it to have a vanilla hint to it but it was pure milk which I loved.

Although the gimmick got me through the door, the flavours make me want to go back. And yes, it really does look like an opening rose but it packs so much of a punch and is a really unique way to layer the flavours without making a giant pile of ice cream as traditionally layered scoops look.

(oh hello, face reveal?)
