If you’re like me and chronically online, you’ve heard of Blank Street Coffe and their infamous Blueberry Iced Matcha. I am a big matcha fan, having previously been a Leon regular for their vanilla matcha, but now I go to Black Sheep Coffee for their flavoured matcha drinks. I am a big fan of their Strawberries and Cream Iced Matcha. But I only stepped foot in Black Sheep because they too have a blueberry matcha and I wanted to see what the hype was.

So, when faced with the original, I had to go in.

They have a wide range of drinks, and although they have coffee in the name, I only saw a line of matcha orders.

Looking at the other drinks on their menu, it seems very much like my kind of cafe. The Strawberries and Cream latte is defo on my to drink list, as I’ve never seen anywhere offer that combination.

I really wanted to try their Banana Bread Matcha but I thought for a first taste I’d go with the main line just to see what everyone else has tried already. I’ll be back in the city soon, so I will get to try it and see if it’s as good as I imagine (I love banana bread).

I ordered the White Chocolate Matcha as I know I’m not a fan of the processed blueberry flavour.

The wait time was not long at all, I think the whole trip took about 10 minutes because there was a bit of a queue to get into the cafe, but I had the time to wait. It was really fun watching everyone get their orders and immediately grab a pic for the gram.

When I got my drink, I immediately gave it a swirl to incorporate the matcha into the flavoured milk then I had my first sip. I used to be a fan of the Starbucks White Chocolate Frappe, so I have an idea of what the drink should taste like and the milk base was very similar. The matcha wasn’t as strong as I hoped and it took a bit to get it properly mixed so I wasn’t just drinking flavoured milk with a hint of matcha.

However, once it was mixed, it was really nice.

Would I go back? Yeah, just to give the other drinks a try.

What did I like most? That it was a fairly affordable experience, I’m used to paying the ‘London Tax’ on food and drink when I visit, but this matcha was cheaper than the Black Sheep Coffee version by 60p- £1 depending on the flavour.

I can see why some Londoners rave about the place, and i think it is a safe option for people who want to try matcha but aren’t a fan of the ‘grassy’ taste.
